to depart from the text in endless digression
Wouldn't invest too much in this one, Yahmdallah. The Travis County DA is a bad piece of work, no matter his party, no matter how much you want to destroy Delay.
Hey, I think think DeLay is one of the more corrupt politicians we've had in some time, and it's good to see that he's not immune. Sorry if you felt he was anything other than a crook. The reality is that, to use a creaky "Star Wars" analogy, once he leaves politics, he'll simply be more powerful, and less constrained by laws to subvert the voting and political processes. So this is a bittersweet "Yay" because now the exterminator can infest the walls.
Btw, for the deleted comments are comment spam, not actual reader comments. I will only delete reader comments if they go way above and beyond a personal attack.
I too am elated. Them wheels o' justice turn slow but sure. Glad to see the egg on the faces of all those "holier than thou" conservatives, who changed the house rules to protect him - rules they created in an attempt to appear on the moral high ground during the Clinton years. What buffoons!
Speaking as a long-time inhabitant of Travis County, don't believe the current right-wing smear tactics aimed at Ronnie Earle. He's an equal-time bulldog, going at corrupt Democrats as well as Republicans. Exhibit 1: http://www.statesman.com/metrostate/content/metro/stories/10/2earleinvestigate.html
