In the "It Can't Happen Here" files...

Clear Channel is refusing to play any of Bruce Springsteen's new songs, even though the album has gone #1 on the charts. Here's a blog with some good info about it, and here's an article on Faux News about it (down the page, after the Britney story).

Well, what's the solution? In a free market you get crap like this. But in a heavily regulated market, with Bushians in charge, it would certainly be even worse.

I think the solution is go back to the old rules of media outlet ownership (including the valuable lesson learned from WWII - no foreign ownership of media outlets) - essentially stop monopolies that can do this (and I know that technically Clear Channel is not a monopoly in the strict sense, but they are in the sense they control too much of the market).
